Finals

Semester 1 of Shelisa's college education. check

Thats right, I am official done. And to make it even better, I am not a failure. I started out the week passing my Psych final with an 88%, giving me an A in the class. Next came Book of Mormon, which I have no idea how I did because the professor grades it himself. But lets just say if I get a B in that class, I'll be pretty happy. Anything lower and I might cry. Just cuz it would be so embarrasing. haha After I got those done on Monday and Tuesday I decided to take a break and just spend Wednesday studying. Thursday morning I got up first thing and took American Heritage. I got a whole 69%. Which actually made me laugh a lot. Cuz thats the exact same score I got on both my midterms for that class. And for both midterms, I was about the average so I'm pretty sure I'll be ok in that class too once they curve everything. But then I found out yesterday that one of the questions didn't have a correct answer, which I was so confused about on the test, cuz I thought I knew the answer but I couldn't find it. haha So I actually got a 70%. And I have mixed feelings about this. Cuz that one percent brought it from a D to a C, but I also can no longer say that I got the same percentage grade on all three of my tests in that class. haha So then later Thrusday night, after studying all day for Sociology, I decided that I wasn't going to be any better prepared for the final than I was right then. So I just went and took it. And got an 86%. =] Great way to end my finals. I should be able to pull an A- in that class. So overall, my first semester has been a success. For all my desire to just be an average college student, I was still able to pull pretty aweseome grades. Let's hope this can continue through out my entire college life.

What is this white junk?

It snowed. A lot. I don't like it. Ok actually thats a lie. I liked it for about an hour when I was jumping in snow piles after dinner. The next day when I fell down a flight of stairs because they were so slippery from the snow, I no longer liked it. And my feelings have yet to change. It's wet and gross. The only good kind of snow is the nice clean snow that no one has walked through or driven over. But that kind of snow lasts about 30 minutes. Also, falling snow is better than rain, cuz its not as wet. But once it has hit the ground its just plain dangerous. Slippery and deadly. Lets just say that I will never permanently live anywhere it snows. And its freaking cold!!! Its pretty sad that when its only 30 degrees outside, I can live with just a small jacket. What is happening to me?!? In California, I would have had 5 jackets on in 30 degree weather. The picture is the snow outside my window. Snow was actually falling but you can't really tell.

In-N-Out

So its finally here in Provo. =] Actually its been here since Thanksgiving but the lines were always SUPER long and I had no desire to stand in them. But Shae and I eventually went a couple weeks ago. And she's already hooked. But thats to be expected right? I just had to share how happy I was the the only fast food restaurant I actually like is finally in Provo.

New Moon!

Can I just say that it was FREAKING AMAZING!!! Seriously. I liked New Moon 50 million times better than Twilight. And could Jacob be any hotter? I seriously doubt it. Mom and I decided we were going to go see it again when I come home for Christmas and I'm definitely looking forward to it. Yesterday, I wore a shirt I had bought at the premire and it has a giant picture of shirtless Jacob on it. All the guys I saw that day either gave me strange looks or were like "Oh my gosh, not you too." And all the girl's were like "OH MY GOSH!! I LOVE YOUR SHIRT!!" I even had random girls I didn't know come up to me and ask to see it better. haha It was quite halarious. So anyways, if you haven't seen it, you better go do so asap. Cuz it's almost life changing. ;]

Finally Updating

So I know I haven't updated the blog in like 2 months so this is just gonna be one big giant post on everything thats been going on. And some of it is old news but thats ok. Now all you people can stop telling me to update! haha

Early in October, a bunch of us drove down to Las Vegas for the BYU vs. UNLV football game. Only 5 of us had tickets to the game but there like 15 people total that went. We stayed at Shae's aunts house (which was GIANT) for the whole weekend. Friday night we went to the strip and just kind of walked around and got attacked by freaks passing out gross flyers. haha We also got henna tattoo's which was pretty sweet. Then we just went back to the house and watched a movie and hung out. On Saturday we went swimming and then to the game. It was such a fun game! We sat by some drunk UNLV fans who were pretty halarious and Shae got hit on by some old guy from Salt Lake. Me and Shae got free lemonade that was super delicious. It was definitely a good night. Sunday we drove home and stopped at In-n-Out in St. George. Oh how it made me miss California...

Then two weekends later I babysat my cousin Kale and their new puppy, Lily, while Liz and Dev went to Vegas for the U2 concert. It was a pretty good weekend. I love hanging out with Kale and he was really good all weekend. I didn't love Lily very much all the time though. I'm definitely not a fan of being followed 25/7 around by a small little dog for two days. haha But thats ok, it was a good time overall.
The next weekend was halloween. I'm not exactly sure what I ended up being because it changed a million times. I started out being Glinda the Good Witch from Wizard of Oz but then I didn't have time to make a crown that looked like hers so that kind of failed. So then I was just gonna be a princess but soon decided that was dumb and cliche so I bought some wings and became the tooth fairy for like an hour. And then when the dumb elastic from the wings started cutting into my armpits, I decided I really like the idea of just being a princess. haha I went to a fun party my friend Rachel had at her apartment on Thursday and on Saturday I had to work and was all dressed up and that night I went to another party with some friends from my floor. It was a lot of fun!!
My favorite band, Dashboard Confessional, are on tour for their new CD, so when I found out they were going to be playing at the McKay Events Center in Orem, I knew I was going even if I had to go alone. I ended up being able to find 8 other people that wanted to come as well so I bought tickets and was ecstatic for the day to finally come. Well one week prior to the concert, I get an e-mail informing me that the entire Dashboard tour had been canceled due to a family emergency. I almost cried. haha ok not really, but I was finally going to be able to see my favorite band in concert and then my dreams got crushed!!

Last weekend I went to the doctors and got diagnosed with pink eye. =/ It kind of sucked but I lived through it. I also went to Park City with a bunch of girls from my floor and we stayed at Jessi's house, who is from there. We just had some girl bonding time and it was a nice weekend. This picture is only part of the girls who were there.

This past weekend I went to BYU-Idaho to visit Zach and Kayla, friends from California. I stayed at Kayla's dorm both nights. Friday night I hung out with Zach and his roommates (me and a bunch of boys. not bad right? lol) and we went to this dance. I'm pretty sure I got hit on more times that night than I have ever here in Utah. haha It was crazy but also a lot of fun. Saturday I went on a date with one of Zach's roommates and that was fun too. The rest of the day I spent with Kayla and her roommates. We just hung out and watched a movie but it was good! It was soooo cold there though. And they have really strict rules. And everyone wants to get married. More so than here in Utah. So needless to say, although it was a great weekend trip, I am so glad I don't go to school there.
School has been pretty good so far. Its definitely a million times harder than high school and I've become perfectly ok with just getting average grades. It seems as though no matter how much I study, I am destined to not get an A on a test so therefore as long as I am passing my classes, I'm a happy camper. I figure I'll be able to do better once I start taking more classes fr my major because I'll actually be interested in those classes. I signed up for my classes next semester and I'll be taking History of Psychology, Book of Mormon part 2, Biology, English and Orientation to Psyh Majors. I'm still trying to get into the Beginning Guitar class so hopefully that ends up working out because I REALLY want that class. lol
So I think thats all for now. You should all be updated on the exciting life I'm living at BYU. I'll try to keep more on top of updating the blog!

True Blue

This Wednesday was the annual (or so I think) True Blue event at BYU. Basically I don't know what the point really is, but I'm assuming it's just to show support for our school and maybe our football team. There was a jello eating contest and an ultimate frisbee game. But really the cool part was the blue foam slip 'n' slide. Yes that's right, blue foam. Like neon blue. I went with Shae and then we met up with two guys from our ward, Andy and Adam. We had to wait in line but it was sooo worth it. They had a tarp set up down a hill on Heleman Fields and then a foam hose spraying foam all the way down it. It sounds wierd and not so much fun but it was freaking fabulous. They also had foam pits where they had just sprayed a buttload of foam on the ground but it was kind of gross and muddy. So we avoided that until some guy came back with a foam hose and we just stood in front of the hose and got covered in foam. Then we went home, all foamy and got blue all down the carpet in our dorm hallway and all over the bathroom. Good thing we have amazing cleaning ladies. =]
